Queen & Paul Rogers..First Night....

Copyright 2005 Danny Clifford

Well here we go.. Queen are back, this time with the one and only Paul Rogers as the front man..

I photographed a gig a few months ago at Wembley with Brian May and Paul Rogers was singing.. He has such an amazing and powerful voice..

Anyway, I got to Brixton Academy in South London early.. There were crowds lining up all around the streets.. This gig was packed and the Academy was at full stretch.. You could feel the anticipation, excitement.. I must admit this was something that I had though would never happen.. I know that it is to be very different without Freddie and we should not compare Paul with Freddie.. You really could feel the electricity in the crowd. Then, down went the house light and on the came.. Wow, they were amazing, it was like watching a new band in a way, but music that the world is more than familiar with. I got straight into it and got as many shots as I could. The verdict was that they are amazing and cant wait to shoot them again.

Anastacia in London

Anastacia is in town.. I went and shot the show at Wembley pavilion the new-ish arena.. Empire pool Wembley is being renovated and they have erected a large tent to hold about 10'000 people in the meantime.. Anyway, we had to shoot from the mixing desk, which is always such fun, not... Managed to get some good shots despite all of the obstacles..

Well today was St Patricks day. I Spent the afternoon with Pete Doherty, Alan Wass and Shane MacGowan at the Boogaloo in Highgate, London. Took some great shots of Pete on the roof. He was on top form.. very funny at times.. Jon Gardner was there to help me, he is a bit if an IT genius. Which is handy because I am a technophobe.. Later in the day, Pete, Alan Wass, Bap Kennedy and Shame performed a special set. The place was mobbed... There were loads of journalists there..

The next day saw my photos in loads of the National daily UK papers and Ireland.. Also photos appereared in Rolling Stone, Mojo, Q and many other magazines around the world..

Pete Doherty, Shane & The Streets @ Ally Pally

Met up with Shane MacGowan & Gerry O'Boyle early evening. I drove him, Gerry & Bam Kennedy to Alexandra Palace. He is performing with Pete Doherty and Babyshambles. They are supporting The Streets. Now Mike Skinner is an odd boy. He spent most of the first song screaming at his security to remove Shane from the side of the stage, then secondly after he had been moved to the side of the photo pit. Shane was frog marched out and placed under house arrest in the dressing room. When I finished taking photos of The Streets, I went to the dressing room where shane had found a megaphone. He hilarious. He was shouting through it and having a real laugh with Gerry. I went and got my car and drove him and all away and back to insanity and safety at The Boogaloo. Shane was shouting through the megaphone all the way back in the car, he is very funny. Mike Skinner obvoiusly has some issues. Shane may be on the sauce most of the time, but is a really really nice guy and certainly didnt offend Skinner in any way. Skinner is an odd one !!
